Share a Video in a WebEx Meeting In this topic:Embed a link to a video that can be streamed to your attendees during a meeting.

To share a video during a WebEx meeting, you must use the UCF Toolkit. This will allow you to embed a link to the video that can be streamed to your attendees during your meeting.

To install the UCF Toolkit, simply follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your WebEx website (example: https://SITENAME.webex.com).
  2. Click on a WebEx service tab (located toward the top of the page).
  3. On the left-hand navigation bar, click Support, then Downloads
  4. In the section titled “WebEx Universal Toolkit”, click the Download Now link.
  5. Run or save the file to your computer.

This will install the WebEx bar into your Microsoft PowerPoint program.

To embed the video into your PowerPoint presentation, simply follow these steps:

  1. Upload your video to a website that is accessible from the Internet (although it can be a hidden directory).
  2. Copy the uploaded video’s URL.
  3. In Microsoft PowerPoint, go to the slide where you want to insert the media object.
  4. Click WebEx and select Insert Video Object.
  5. Paste the uploaded video’s URL.
  6. Click Insert.
    The “Object Properties” box appears.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Your video is now embedded in PowerPoint. Save your presentation as either UCF or PowerPoint format.

Sharing the Video during Your WebEx Session

When you get to the slide containing your video, it will stream to your attendees. Only a portion of the video needs to be uploaded to the attendees’ computers before playback can occur. You may check the status by clicking the Attendee Statistics button.

Notes:

  • FOR MACINTOSH USERS — Please keep in mind that videos can only be viewed within the Meeting Center service. Other WebEx services do not support MAC video file sharing. The supported formats for videos are Quicktime (.mov) or MPEG only.
  • You may share the video directly from the website by clicking Share and selecting Web Content. This will stream the video to your attendees.
  • Also, you may click Share and select Presentation or Document. This will allow you to share a video off of your hard drive. However, all attendees will need to completely download the video before it can be played.
  • Sharing a video through either Application Share or Desktop Sharing is not recommended. Due to hardware acceleration, the video may not be displayed unless hardware acceleration is turned off completely. In addition, you may not get an acceptable frame rate.
